Sri Lanka Trip



An international educational trip offers students an enriching experience beyond the confines of a traditional classroom. By exploring new countries, students gain firsthand insights into different cultures, languages, and historical contexts, broadening their worldview and developing a deeper sense of global citizenship. Visits to museums, historical landmarks, and cultural sites allow students to connect textbook knowledge with real-world experiences, making learning more memorable and impactful. Interacting with local communities fosters empathy, respect, and an appreciation for diversity, while navigating new environments helps students build confidence and independence. These immersive journeys not only enhance academic understanding but also cultivate life skills, leaving students with unforgettable memories and a renewed curiosity for the world.

Keeping this in mind, DPS Raipur organised an educational trip to Sri Lanka. It is a country which offers an ideal setting for an educational trip with its rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture. Visiting iconic sites like the ancient city of Anuradhapura, the rock fortress of Sigiriya, and the sacred Temple of the Tooth in Kandy provides students with an immersive experience in history and archaeology.

Visit to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress top, allowed the students to witness the breathtakingly 360-degree views of the surrounding hills, forests, pastures, lakes, monuments of Sigiriya from a birds-eye angle.

Their next destination was the Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddha Statue which is the biggest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka nestled within the hilltops above Kandy and offers the panoramic view of city.

It was no less exciting to explore the Bhakt Hanuman Temple. It is believed that this was the first place in Sri Lanka where Hanuman landed before starting the quest to look for Goddess Sita. Students also got an opportunity to stopover at Seetha Amman Kovil, a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita and is believed to be the place where Goddess Sita was kept after she had been captured by the demon king Rawana of Lanka.

To enjoy the serenity and the natural beauty of the country, the students were also taken to the Gegory Lake and the Ramboda Falls that are known for scenic landscapes comprising of beautiful water bodies, highlands, ridges, plains, streams, and hilly mountains. Students enjoyed River Safari in Bentota witnessing Mangrove Forest, Backwater, Cinnamon Processing unit etc. They also visited the Bale Bazaar, popularly known as the winter market. Exploring the local market and interacting with Sri Lankan communities also introduced students to new perspectives on culture and daily life, enhancing their understanding of global diversity.

This educational journey through Sri Lanka combined both intellectual growth and personal enrichment, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit.
