









On November 26, 2024, Constitution Day was celebrated in Delhi Public School. As a part of the celebration, the students of class IX to XII participated in the Youth Parliament organized by the SSC department. This event offered a vibrant platform for young minds to engage in meaningful discourse. The event showcased the intellectual abilities and debating skills of the participants.
The Youth Parliament started by Oath Taking ceremony followed by observing a moment of silence to pay homage to the late Mr. Ratan Tata, acknowledging his unparalleled contributions to industry, philanthropy, and nation-building.
The primary focus of the session was the introduction and discussion of a Bill on the Reduction of Reservation, which sparked a lively and insightful debate among the participants. Thought-provoking questions were posed and addressed on the following topics - strategies to combat National Disasters, the concept of One Nation, One Election and its feasibility, Diplomatic and trade relations with Canada, Measures to enhance Women's Safety in public and private spaces, debating whether Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids are influenced by political agendas, Steps to regulate and censor content on OTT platforms without stifling creativity.
The next step in the process was Calling Attention Notice. The discussion also highlighted the restrictions on the registration of tourist centers, emphasizing its impact on tourism and local economies.
Students were assigned the role of foreign delegates from the USA and the UK, adding an international perspective to the proceedings.
The debates and deliberations were evaluated by the distinguished judges, officers from the Vidhan Sabha, Shri Sudhir Sharma and Balram Shukla. They were immensely satisfied to see the proceedings and were mesmerized with the performance of the students.
Next in the list was the Pledge Ceremony. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to upholding democratic values and fostering a better tomorrow. The event concluded with the national anthem followed by a dynamic press conference where participants answered media questions, showcasing their confidence and articulation.
The Youth Parliament at DPSR was a resounding success, providing students with a platform to engage in democratic practices, refine their oratory skills, and understand the complexities of governance.
